Doug's Newbie Home Page

This page was initially set up to show students of Utah's Internet Navigator class how easy it is to set up your own home page and obtain an e:mail account with Geocities.

This page was set up to show Internet Navigator students and any others who find this page how easy it is to set up your own free homepage! I set up this page initially to try out the Geocities services, and keep it here as an example of how the Gocities EZ Editor does all the work for you!

Initially, it was only a sample linked from my student project. Now, it links to my new set of homepage helper pages, which I call "Onkle Doug's Instant Webpage Coding." Though I have edited this page since it was created, it still will give you an idea of how your own page will look if you just use the Geocities "EZ Editor."

Check out the link at the bottom of the page to get your own homepage in a Geocities internet neighborhood.

This page is just a very slightly modified example of what you can do without ever learning HTML, RIGHT NOW! TODAY! I set this up before I ever took a course or learned anything about HTML. In the couple years since then, I have learned quite a bit more, but am leaving this page in this form for an example of a simple, plain vanilla home page.

I have changed the links below to focus on my homepage helper project, which is designed so a newbie can create some really stunning results, with little effort. It was easiest for me to get started by editing pages someone else had done. So I have set up a number of pre-formatted pages, with embedded instructions. All you have to do is change the words and the names of the graphics to suit your own preference. You can even set up tables and other fancy stuff, just by typing a few keystrokes! Try it, you'll like it! And, you will learn some HTML along the way. I have included specific links for HTML also:

My homepage helper graphics site! And here is one of the best sites for learning HTML, done by Doctor Joe Burns.

Finnish American Resource List - great links! Does this explain the Finnish Flag at the top? You'll have to check out my regular homepage to see why I have an intense interest in Finland and things Finnish.
